OmniTone shopping cart problems

and read "When all else fails" at the bottom of this page.]

We're sorry if you're having trouble using the shopping cart feature on the OmniTone website.

Every day we have customers who make purchases at the OmniTone and are able to use the secure shopping cart without any difficulty.  However, every once in a while, we hear from a customer who isn't so lucky.

If you're experiencing trouble with the OmniTone shopping cart, here are some suggestions:

  • Cookies.  50% of the time when customers encounter shopping cart problems in the OmniTone store, it's because they've set their browser to not accept cookies.  Cookies have been much maligned in the press as "spy software."  All that a cookie is is a small text file put on your computer's hard disk to hold information.  Our shopping cart uses cookies to do two things: (1) to keep track of the items you're putting in your shopping cart; and (2) to store your customer information [but not your credit card information] on your own computer so that when you come back to shop again, you don't have to enter all the information (like shipping address) again.  That's all.  No shenanigans.  (We can't vouch for the other guys...)

So, if you have your browser set to not accept cookies, if you change that option to accept cookies (at least while you're shopping in the OmniTone store), you'll probably be able to use our secure shopping cart.
  • Firewalls or firewall software.  30% of the time when customers encounter shopping cart problems on the OmniTone website, it's because they are using a computer that is protected by a firewall or by firewall software.  Many big corporations protect their computer systems from invaders by using firewalls.  Unfortunately, the OmniTone shopping cart is not compatible with some firewalls or firewall software.

If you're using firewall software (such as Norton Internet Security, for example) and can disable it briefly while you're attempting to use the OmniTone shopping cart or to check out of the OmniTone store — and if you're willing to disable that software briefly — please try doing so.  Most of the time, turning off your software firewall will allow you to complete your transaction in the OmniTone store.
  • A mystery wrapped in an enigma.  We just can't tell you want happens with the other 10%.  It's too many things.  So, if you've tried both of the above suggestions without success, proceed to "When all else fails" below.

When all else fails...

We prefer you use our on-line, secure shopping cart system.   It is the best way to ensure that your order is processed accurately and efficiently.

However, if you've given the system the "ol' college try" and just can't get it to work, we'll accept your order via our handy, dandy fax form.  Just click here to get a manual order form in Acrobat PDF format.  (This requires that your have the Adobe Acrobat reader which, because you're so hip, you probably already have installed on your computer.  But if not, you can click here to get Acrobat Reader for free from Adobe.)

Please print it out, make sure you print very clearly on the form, and fax it back to us at 617-830-0679.  Also, make sure to include your e-mail address (if you have one), so we can send you an order confirmation.  If you have questions about shipping/handling charges or taxes, please see our ordering information form.

Thank you for supporting creative music and our OmniTone online store!
