M.O.B. Trio: NEW NEW YORKBiography for Bob Bowen

Bassist Bob Bowen, originally from Dayton, Ohio, has lived since 1996 in New York City.  He has worked with many noted jazz performers including John Hicks, Tony Purrone, Roseanna Vitro, Lee Konitz and Mark Murphy. 

Bob has two creative working projects of his own:

  • MOB Trio, with noted drummer Matt Wilson and tenorman Ohad Talmor, with its debut, Loose, on OmniTone.
  • bowensacksweiss is a collaborative trio with third place Thelonious Monk Competition winner pianist Jacob Sacks and drummer Dan Weiss.

Bob teaches music theory and directs jazz combos at the Queens College CSPM program and the Manhattan School of Music Summer Jazz Workshop and has been a faculty member of the Miami Valley Summer Jazz Camp since the early 1990's.  After graduating Cum Laude with a BA in Music Composition from the University of Dayton, Bob studied in  the Master's level classical double bass program at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and holds a Masters degree in Jazz Performance from the Manhattan School of Music, Master of Music, Jazz Bass Performance 1998.
